As parts of efforts to help the less privileged in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, the OLALEKAN SANNI OPEN ARMS FOUNDATION, (OSOAF) has given back to school packages to thousands of primary school pupils as they resumed back to school for new academic session in the state.
The package which included free school bags, note books, pencils, rulers and erazers for each of the beneficiaries, were distributed to the pupils to support parents’ effort in getting writing materials for their children while resuming school for new academic session.
While speaking on the reason behind the gesture, the founder of OSOAF, Alhaji Olalekan Sanni, emphasized that the gesture is part of the Foundation’s aims to give open arms to the needy and less privileged in the society, and particularly for the upliftment of the educational sector in the society.
According to him, “having acknowledged the value of education for our pupils as the best legacy that a parent, state and nation can offer for the children to empower them for future self reliance, we thereby packaged this token to support the parents, this gesture we belief will reduce stress and part of expense, the parents will incurs, as we aware that this is the beginning of 1st term in new classes, where parents will buy books, shoe, uniforms among other expenses to get their children back to the classroom.”
The founder, who is an Ibadan born US based philanthropist, was represented by Barrister Lukman Olaoye stressed that the Foundation provided those materials to support the government, the pupils for conducive learning in classes, also parents and reduce the stress of spending, most especially at this crucial economic downturn.
Olalekan Sanni, the President of the OSOAF added that, when a child is equipped with learning and writing materials, the concentration and performance would be enhanced for excellent result.
He stated further that the gesture and other empowerment for the children, women, trader and artisans is Paramount in his agenda, as part of his Willingness to contribute to the development of his origin and the people in order to appreciate God for His mercy, favour and enablement in his life.

Also in her remarks, wife of the founder, Alhaja Rashidat Sanni said the foundation since it was established by her husband has embarked upon programmes targeting at empowering the women, youths and the vulnerable, stressing that it has made significant impact on the lives of the needy.
Those that benefited from the initiatives of the foundation , included pupils from Federation of Muslim Women’s Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN) orphanage, Orita Bashorun, Ibadan, St. Paul’s Primary School, Yemetu, Ibadan School I, II and III and School for the Handicapped, HLA, Agodi, Ibadan.
In their separate responses, the Chairperson FOMWAN orphanage home, Mrs Asiat Iyabode Idowu, Headteacher, St. Paul’s Primary School, Yemetu Ibadan, Mrs Olukunga Esther Abisola and Headteacher School for the Handicapped, HLA, Agodi, Ibadan, Mrs Elisha Winifred appreciated members of the team for the gesture and prayed God Almighty to continue to enrich the donor so as to continue to do more for the society.
