After Nigeria’s national grid collapsed on Wednesday, Electricity Generation Companies, GenCos, supplied 3,228MW to distribution companies early Thursday.
The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) had said on Wednesday, shortly after the incident, that restoration of power to the grid was ongoing.
The operator in a statement described the system collapse as a disturbance, attributed the cause to the tripping of a GenCo, resulting in a significant load drop that cascaded to other GenCos, leading to a system disturbance.
