Gospel Singer Bunmi Akinnanu “Omije Oju Mi” Is Dead

A popular Nigerian gospel singer, Bunmi Adeoye Akinnanu, better known as Omije Oju Mi, is dead.

The musician, who went from the banking industry to the music industry, according to available information, died on Tuesday.

A reel seen on social media platform, Thread showed her being wheeled out of the hospital to the mortuary.

She was reportedly died from a prolonged illness associated with her leg.

Akinnanu had publicly called for prayers and divine healing over the leg ailment.

In 2025, a video of Akinnanu surfaced online from a church service at G. F. David Ministries in Ibadan, the Oyo State, capital, where she was seen seated with her leg stretched out while prayers were offered.

During the service, a cleric disclosed that the singer had been experiencing persistent bleeding in her leg, prompting intense prayers for healing.

Akinnanu rose to fame in the early 2000s after leaving a banking career to pursue music.

Her nickname: Omije Oju mi (Tears of my Eyes) came from her debut album.

Her other prominent albums included Dabira, Alatilehin, Ma Sunkun Mo, and Testimony.

She was the leader of Omije Ojumi Gospel International Music band.

Akinnanu studied Industrial Relations and Personnel Management at the Lagos State University (LASU) after attending Lagos State Polytechnic.

She was said to have worked in the banking industry for over a decade before transitioning to gospel music.

Her music blends traditional and contemporary sounds, and she is known for inspirational songs about faith, healing, and hope.
