Gospel Singer Mercy Chinwo, Husband Donate Food Items In Rivers

Nigerian gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo, and her husband, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, reached out to the less privileged residents of the Rumudara community in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, spreading joy and relief to families in need.

The ‘Excess Love’ crooner and her spouse distributed essential food items, including bags of rice, garri, cartons of tomato paste, and tubers of yam, to the elderly, single mothers, and disadvantaged households.

The couple added cash gifts and fabrics, ensuring a joyous Christmas and New Year for the beneficiaries despite the prevailing economic challenges in Nigeria.

The outreach, conducted on 30th of December, 2024, was organised under the Mercy Is Blessed Foundation, the charity arm of the Grace and Truth Nation Nation, a music label co-owned by the singer and her husband.

Speaking about the initiative, Uzochikwa said, “The central goal of Christ is love, and He is the reason for the season. According to John 3:16, we know that giving is the DNA of love. John 3:16 says: ‘For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.’

“Love is about giving, and that is why the Mercy Is Blessed Foundation has made it a central idea to share the love of Jesus Christ with people who don’t know where their next meal would come from. The goal is not just giving them food items but empowering and establishing them to have sustainable means of income.”
