Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has dismissed all Commissioners and other public office holders impacted by the Supreme Court’s recent judgment concerning the state’s affairs.
The Governor, in a statement issued on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, announced that the dissolution of the cabinet is effective immediately.
The valedictory session also doubles as part of the activities marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
During the session, Governor Fubara expressed appreciation to the commissioners for their contributions and dedication to the growth and development of Rivers State over the past two years.
While highlighting the significance of Nigeria’s Independence, the Governor called on all Nigerians to join hands with President Bola Tinubu in building a peaceful, secure, and prosperous nation.
He further restated his commitment to serve the people of Rivers State with renewed vigour, while extending his gratitude to citizens for their continued support, and wished Nigerians a joyful 65th Independence Anniversary.
It had earlier been reported that Governor Fubara cancelled the Independence Day parade originally scheduled for Wednesday, October 1, as part of the activities to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
The Permanent Secretary of the Special Services Bureau, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Friday Dede, in a statement, said the decision was in line with the pronouncement of the Federal Government.
Dede expressed the government’s regret over any inconvenience the cancellation might cause the public.
