Harmonization Of Oyo PDP EXCOs: NWC Visits Ladoja

As a result of fresh crisis erupted from harmonization of State  Executives of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oyo State Chapter, a delegation from the national headquarters of the Party on Wednesday visited former Governor the State, Senator Rashidi Ladoja,  and his supporters to find lasting solution to the crisis.

As the delegation declared the former Governor as the leader of the political party in the state as well as one of the leaders of the party in south west and National level.

The members of the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) were in Ladoja’s Ibadan residence to persuade the former governor and his supporters not to dump the political party.

Ladoja and his supporters had threatened to dump the Oyo PDP over alleged impunity by the national headquarters of the party, after the controversial harmonization of the state executives.

It could be recalled that there was a Congress by faction loyal to former Governor Ladoja with the presence of National Congress Committee led by former Governor of Cross Rivers State, Liyel Imoke and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at Watershed, Ibadan while another faction loyal to governorship aspirant in the state, Engineer Seyi Makinde held parallel Congress at Baptist Secondary School, Oke Ado, Ibadan.

The delegation which comprised Senator Umaru Tsavri, the National Secretary; Elder Yemi Akinwonmi, the National Deputy Chairman (South) and Hon. Abdullahi Waibasiru, the National Financial Secretary, urged PDP members in the state to cooperate with Ladoja.

They were received by Ladoja and other leaders of the Oyo PDP including former Minister, Oloye Jumoke Akinjide; former Secretary to the Oyo State Government (SSG), Barrister Sarafadeen Alli; and the Minority Leader in the state House of Assembly, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige.

Hundreds of Oyo PDP members had stormed the Ondo Street, Bodija, Ibadan residence of the former governor, carrying placards with inscriptions such as: “No Ladoja, no PDP in Oyo state”, ” Ladoja is our leader “, ” Don’t encourage impunity in Oyo PDP ” and so on.

Addressing the PDP members after a closed door meeting that lasted for over two and half hours, the PDP’ National Secretary, Senator Tsavri,  declared that “Ladoja is PDP, PDP is Ladoja”.

Tsavri said the former governor of Oyo state is not only the party’s leader in the state, but in the entire Southwest geopolitical zone.

He, therefore, urged all party members in all the zones of Oyo state to give Ladoja the necessary support needed to deliver the state to the party in next year’s general elections.

Also, speaking with journalists after the meeting, the PDP’s Deputy National Chairman (South), Akinwonmi, said the need to restore peace into Oyo PDP necessitated the visit to Ibadan.

Akinwonmi, however, said that the national headquarters was yet to take a decision on the issue of the harmonization of state

 executives.

He said: ” We are here to bring peace to Oyo PDP. We have listened to him, and we are going to inform the Wadata Plaza of all that we have heard here today.”
