House Of Reps Election: Opposition Parties Celebrate APC’s Weak, Unknown Candidate In Oluyole Federal Constituency

It is going to be an easy win for the opposition against the ruling party All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oluyole Federal Constituency, Oyo State as major opposition parties celebrate the imposition of Mrs. Tolu Shadipe , a cousin and Special Adviser to Governor Abiola Ajimobi as the APC’s candidate for the constituency.

The APC candidate, unilaterally imposed by Governor Abiola Ajimobi without any input whatsoever from the leaders of the party at the federal constituency is a not only a greenhorn in politics, she is not known at all in the local government. Her first time in Oluyole was on the 24th of July 2018 when she attended the APC meeting for the first time.

While the leaders of the APC at the Oluyole Federal Constituency were fuming with anger over the imposition, opposition parties heaved a sigh of relief with the weak and unknown candidate threw up by the ruling party.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is fielding the incumbent Member in the House of Representatives, Hon. Sumbo Olugbemi: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has Hon. Mojeed Mogbonjubola while the African Democratic Party’s candidate is Hon. Jide Adewale, a former Commissioner in Ajimobi’s administration who has been contesting for the position since 2003.

Sources close to the party in the local government disclosed to our correspondent that all those that matter in the party were bitter with the imposition of the woman whom they claimed was not even from the local government.

They said that the woman resorted to claiming ward 10 in Oluyole Local Government when her earlier efforts to claim Akinyele and Lagelu local government were unsuccessful.

“This is the worst form of imposition I have ever witnessed in my life. I have been in politics since the times of Awolowo, this one is absurd. How can the governor just brought a lady, his cousin who was never part of us a month to the primaries and imposed her on us. The governor has finished our party. This is a rape of democracy. How do we start campaigning for somebody that everybody knows is not even from our local government? We have already failed”

With this development, the battle for the House of Representatives Seat for Oluyole is now virtually among the three opposition parties, ADC, PDP and ADP.
