‘I Can’t Date A Fellow Actor’, Nollywood Actress Uzoamaka Onuoha Says

Nollywood actress, Uzoamaka Onuoha has shared insights into her journey as an actress, discussing the valuable lessons she has learnt along the way, noting that marrying from the industry is not a good option.

“No, I can’t date a fellow actor. But, never say never though, but I just don’t think I’d want to be in the same line of work with my partner,” she stated.” Onuoha admitted her reservations but left room for flexibility.

She disclosed this in an interview with Potpourri. Onuoha, best known for her role as ‘Diiche’ in the popular series of the same name, also spoke about the challenges and growth she has experienced in the industry.

Reflecting on her acting career, Onuoha explained how the industry has shaped her as a professional.

“This industry has helped shape me, and through the medium, I have learnt a few things such as consistency, putting in the actual work one foot in front of the other. Patience and commitment, to mention but a few,” she said.

Recalling her early days in the field, the actress revealed that her passion for acting began in secondary school and led her to pursue formal training in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

“I started performing from secondary school, then I took the initiative to pursue the course further in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, studying Theatre and Film Studies, and well, here I am,” she shared.

Discussing her experience playing the lead role in Diiche, Onuoha credited her previous projects with preparing her for the challenge.

“I find that projects I have been a part of always had a way of preparing me for projects to come. Working on a project like Diiche, I found that the little gears I picked up from other productions along the way helped prepare me for this project that was done on a larger scale.

“Diiche was a blessing to me. I had never done anything like it before; it was such a big challenge, and I am thankful for it and for all my projects”, she explained.
