I Still Live With My Family — Ayra Starr

Afrobeats singer and Mavin Records signee Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, has opened up about her personal life, revealing that she still lives with her family in Nigeria despite her growing fame and fortune.

In an interview with Coco Jones for Rolling Stone’s “Musicians on Musicians” issue, the 21-year-old star shared how close family and friends remain central in her life, even as her career reaches new heights.

“When I go back home [Nigeria], I still live with my family. My brothers are making noise playing video games,” Starr said.

“I still involve my friends in my life. We have a group chat where I solicit their opinions on what I wear. I thank God for my friends and family. Although, sometimes, it gets overwhelming and I have to disappear.”

Signed to Mavin Records, Ayra Starr quickly gained popularity with her self-titled EP in 2021, showcasing her unique blend of Afro-pop, R&B, and soul.

Her breakout single Away and debut album 19 & Dangerous solidified her place in the industry, with hits like Bloody Samaritan resonating widely
