I Was Not Informed of PDP Convention in Ibadan – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, stated on Tuesday that he is not aware of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) planned National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Wike said he is not aware that the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC) has approved the planned National Convention.

The FCT Minister made the declaration during an interview with Channels Television in which he declared, “Have they given a date for Ibadan? I don’t know.”

Wike, however, debunked reports that he is planning a parallel PDP convention.

Asked if he plans to attend the Ibadan convention, Wike said he’s not aware that the PDP NEC have met and agreed on a date for the planned convention in Ibadan.

Asked by the anchor if he was planning a parallel convention for the PDP, the Minister replied, “How can you say I’m planning? Planning to do what? I’m not aware that there is any convention in Ibadan.

“As a NEC member, I’ve not been told, and nobody has invited me for NEC meeting. If people who work as a team said they have held a NEC meeting, okay, so be it.”

The PDP had earlier disclosed that its convention would hold on Saturday and Sunday, November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The party also subsequently announced the composition of a 110-member main organising committee to oversee the organization of its 2025 elective national convention.
