Ibadan Convention: Makinde Has Successfully Killed, Buried PDP In Oyo, Nigeria – Group

A Political Group within the Oyo State People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the Concerned Youth Movement (CYM) has said that the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has finally killed and buried the party with his actions and inactions that led to the absence of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from observing the national elective convention of the party held at Ibadan over the weekend.

The CYM which described the national elective convention of the PDP as a mere exercise in futility, said it is “an early Christmas party in November”.

CYM has therefore urged any PDP member or Chieftain that wish to contest positions in the 2027 general election to move to the African Democratic Congress, (ADC) for a fresh start.

“The PDP has finished, died and buried last weekend, members with ambition should move ahead and dump the party”, CYM said.

CYM in a release issued on Sunday and signed by its Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Laide Ajao and made available to Journalists said, “Is it not a surprise that the governors of Osun and Taraba shunned the national convention and that the two Governors present at the convention, Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State and Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State were not even aware of the agenda to expell the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom wike and others and they have immediately distanced themselves from the decision taken by Makinde”.

CYM highlighted the consequences of INEC not covering ‘the jamboree’ and how any candidate that emerged through the decision of the convention can’t be a valid candidate come 2027 election.

“As it stands PDP cannot and would not present any candidate for 2027 election. PDP Members should ask themselves if Seyi Makinde were running for his second term . Would he have made the same decisions?

“Therefore, anyone who have the aspiration to contest elections should swiftly withdraw their membership of the party and join the African Democratic Congress, (ADC), where they can have a fresh start to pursue their political aspirations and ambition”.
