National Commissioner at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu, has taken over as the Commission’s Acting Chairperson.
Her appointment followed the formal handover of duties by Professor Mahmood Yakubu, who proceeded on terminal leave ahead of the completion of his tenure.
The handover was announced at the INEC headquarters in Abuja during a stakeholders’ meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs).
Agbamuche-Mbu, who has been a National Commissioner representing Delta, Cross River and Edo States, is expected to oversee the affairs of the Commission pending further directives from the Presidency.
Details of the transition are expected in due course.
