Nigeria’s former President, Goodluck Jonathan, has called on citizens to unite and work collectively toward building a stronger and more prosperous nation.
Jonathan made the call on Wednesday in his message to Nigerians on the occasion of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir.
He said the country is passing through challenges that require collective prayers and actions to solve.
He urged Nigerians to see diversity as a source of strength, not division.
The former leader expressed hope that Nigeria can be better if the citizens would work together.
“On this occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, I extend my warmest greetings to our Muslim brothers and sisters across Nigeria and the world.
“This celebration calls us to reflect on the great lessons of faith, obedience, and sacrifice. It reminds us that even in difficult times, absolute trust in God and willingness to put the greater good above ourselves will always lead to a path of blessing and hope.
“Today, our nation is going through challenges that demand our collective prayers and actions, especially for peace and security. We must see our diversity as a source of strength, not division.
“True nation-building requires the same spirit of devotion and duty that this festival stands for .
“As we celebrate, let us stand together with renewed resolve to safeguard our country and guarantee a secure, stable, and prosperous future for all Nigerians.
“May God bless our efforts and protect our Federal Republic,” he wrote.
