Kebbi Begins Distribution Of FG’s Grains

The Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris has flagged off the distribution of assorted grains provided by the Federal Government to vulnerable members of the state.

Speaking at the distribution ceremony on Wednesday at Bulasa, Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, Idris said the gesture was to support and reduce poverty amongst the less-privileged across the state.

He said the initiative underscored the government’s commitment to supporting those in need, especially in these challenging times.

The governor said, “In the face of the ongoing global challenges, it is imperative that we come together as a community to support the vulnerable citizens.

“The distribution of the assorted grains as palliatives was a crucial step towards ensuring that those most in need receive the necessary support and assistance in these trying times.

“The gesture as an act of kindness and generosity of the APC led-administration towards making a real difference by impacting in the lives of those facing hardship and uncertainty.”

Idris expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the FG “under the able leadership of our dear President Bola Tinubu for his swift response and unwavering commitment in providing relief to the most vulnerable members of our society.”

In her remarks, the Director-General, National Emergency Management Agency, Zubaida Umar commended the FG and the Kebbi State Government for supporting the less-privileged members of the state.

The DG said the gesture would be distributed across the state’s 21 Local Government Areas to purely vulnerable persons in the society.

Some portions of the 42,000 metric tonnes of assorted grains provided by the FG to help cushion the food crisis in the country arrived in at least eight states while the movement of the commodities to other states is ongoing.

Officials of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security confirmed that the grains had arrived in Kano, Kwara, Kogi, Ebonyi, Adamawa, Kebbi, Sokoto, Taraba, among others.
