A delegation from the Kwankwasiyya Movement’s national leadership has held talks with Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) National Leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, and the party’s leadership, in an effort to address and settle internal tensions within the party in Kano State.
The meeting, which was held behind closed doors on Monday night, focused on addressing issues between the Kwankwasiyya Movement and what the party described as legacy officials of the NDC in Kano.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Osa Director Esq.
According to the statement, Senator Dickson and the NDC leadership are mediating in the dispute to promote inclusiveness and ensure broader participation of party members in the affairs of the party.
The party stressed that it remained committed to internal democracy and would not impose candidates in Kano State or any other part of the country.
“Senator Dickson and the NDC leadership are mediating in the process in order to enhance inclusion and participation by every party member,” the statement read.
“The NDC leadership will not impose candidates in Kano State, and indeed across the nation as the party cherishes the virtues of internal democracy.”
The statement added that the meeting lasted several hours and yielded positive outcomes, although details of the resolutions reached were not disclosed.
“The meeting which lasted several hours was productive,” the party said.
The party also dismissed reports circulating on social media and other platforms claiming to contain results of its primary elections.
According to the NDC, no official results have been released from any state, urging members and the public to disregard any purported list in circulation.
“The NDC has not released any official results of its primary elections in any state. Hence, the public and party members are urged to disregard any such list in circulation,” the statement added.
