Kwankwaso Announces Resignation From NNPP

Former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has stepped down from the party.

Rabiu Kwankwaso, who previously ran for president under the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has officially withdrawn his membership from the party.

He made this known in a statement released on Sunday, which he personally signed.

In the message, he explained that his decision followed recent changes in the country’s political direction, which he believes now require him to move on a different path.

Kwankwaso said he was thankful for the chance to serve as the party’s national leader and also represent it in the 2023 presidential election.

He admitted that leaving the party was not an easy choice for him, considering his role and commitment over time.

Despite this, he stated that the present political situation in the country has made it necessary for him to align with another platform.

According to him, this move is aimed at securing a better position to contribute to efforts to bring about change in the nation.

Meanwhile, the Kwankwasiyya Movement has directed its members across the country to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum.

The directive was contained in a terse statement issued on Saturday by the movement’s spokesperson, Habibu Sale Mohammed.
