Lagos To Enhance Hospitality Sector Taxation

In order to prevent multiple taxations in the state, the Lagos State Government has reassured stakeholders in the tourism sector that preparations to unify tax payments have been finalised.

The Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, stated that the plans would help the state government lessen the tax load on company owners.

The commissioner spoke at a stakeholders event tagged “Addressing current industry challenges, exploring emerging trends, understanding the policy framework, and unveiling collaborative opportunities within the entire hospitality value chain.”

She noted that the hospitality sector played a vital role in the economic development of the state.

She added that the state government was committed to creating an enabling environment for the hospitality sector to thrive while urging for support to make the industry data-driven with the aid of technology and new innovation.

Benson-Awoyinka said, “Our policy frameworks are being continually reviewed to ensure they support growth, innovation, and sustainability. We are also focused on improving infrastructure, enhancing security, and promoting Lagos as a prime tourist destination.”
