Liverpool Extends Premier League Lead to 16 Points with Southampton Victory

Southampton lost 3-1 to Liverpool, who are now 16 points ahead at the top of the Premier League.

Late in the first half, William Smallbone surprised the home fans by scoring a goal and giving Southampton the lead.

Liverpool equalised six minutes after the break through Darwin Nunez.

Mohamed Salah gave the Reds the lead for the first time in the game in the 54th minute.

The Egypt international scored his second goal of the game two minutes from time.

Arne Slot’s men have 70 points after 29 games.

Second-placed Arsenal, who have 54 points  can cut Liverpool’s lead with a win over Manchester United on Sunday.

Southampton are 20th on nine points, 13 points from safety.
