However, provided well managed, leather bags can last for a tremendously long period of time. How then do you care for your leather hand bags?
You have to clean your leather bags regularly by using a clean, dry cotton material rag. Then make use of leather polish to make your bags shine. Should the worst come, most marks and dirt are removable with a simple damp cotton cloth. But, the occasional stain on the handbag can call for a deeper cleaning to restore the original look.
Typically, a mild soap and water mix takes almost anything off the leather and gives it a good cleaning. For those heavy stains, leather requires some extra work. While cleaning the bag, it is important to use only a small amount of water as needed. Leather takes a while to dry, so if it is covered with water, it may take some time to dry out.
However, in situations where there are stains, the treatment of the stain depends on exactly what makes up the stain. For dirty, use vinegar and water on the affected area, you will be stunned as to how well it will turn out. For oil stains, apply corn starch on the affected area and clean. For ink stains apply magic eraser.
For food stains and other types of stains never-the-less, using chalk may remove it. Get some white chalk and crumble it into tiny pieces. Place the powder substance on top of the stain. The chalk draws the stain out. The next day, take a cotton cloth and wipe the stain up. This should take the stain right out and make the bag look new again.
