A yet-to-be-identified young man was reportedly beaten to death by suspected cultists on Saturday in Rumuodomaya in Obio-Akpo Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The sad incident was said to have occurred at about 5 a.m along Eligbolo Road.
A resident of the area who wants to be anonymous said they heard voices and people running, and suddenly a group of men suspected to be cultists started beating up a man.
He stated, “The cultists were beating a man and he was begging that early morning until the voice of the victim was no longer heard”
He added police arrived there later and made several arrests.
Another resident who also wants to be anonymous said the residents woke to see his man’s corpse.
“It was very unfortunate that nobody came to assist him early that morning out of fear. The police came and saw the dead body,” he said
When contacted, spokesperson of the state police command, Grace Iringe-Koko, said she was yet to get a report of the incident.
She, however, promised to find out from the DPO and get back to our correspondent but was yet to do so as of the time of filing this report
