The Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates 2023 set of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeoukuta, Ogun State have declared their disappointment in the newly appointed rector of the institution.
The disappointment followed a statement made by the school management to announce an indefinite closure of the Polytechnic amid a call for protest by some aggrieved students who had their National Diploma (ND) programme in another school.
The students who were tagged ‘External Students 23 Set’ said the institution had about 4-5 years to verify the authentication of their ND results.
The resulting issue has fueled concerns among the students who often encountered delays in the release of their results thereby leading to a call for protest.

The institution’s Public Relations Officer, ‘yemi Ajibola, in a statement on Monday, announced the indefinite closure.
Ajibola, however, noted that the decision was to ensure the safety of the lives and property.
He said, “Authorities of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta have announced the closure of the Polytechnic effective from Monday, January 13, 2025, till further notice.
“This is to ensure the safety of lives and properties owing to the protest by some students on the decision of the Management to verify their National Diploma results from their former schools.
“Management expressed its zero tolerance to fake results from any quarters. Consequently, students are advised to stay away from the campus in their interests.
“Parents and the general public are assured of timely updates as events unfold.”
However, the concerned students also reacted to the statement by also releasing a counter-press-release.
The concerned students in a statement on Monday, revealed their disappointment saying, “As invested stakeholders in education, we are profoundly disappointed by the new rector’s neglect in addressing the pressing issues confronting our institution. Rather than tackling these challenges directly, the rector seems to be evading responsibility under the pretext of an indefinite strike, which raises serious concerns about his leadership capabilities.
“This situation highlights that the rector doesn’t deserve managing our institution, as the decision to suspend operations at this critical time indicates a lack of consideration for the students’ best interests.
“We had hoped that management would communicate with us today and outline a constructive way forward that would meet the needs of both parties. Therefore, it is incredibly disheartening to see a recent press release from management declaring a lockdown of the school
Management’s assertion of having “zero tolerance for fake results from any quarters” is an abbreviation.
“We have submitted our results for verification since 2021, a fact acknowledged by management, which led to our admission based on merit. Since then, management has had more than four years (2021-2025) to carry out the necessary verifications, yet their inaction indicates a troubling trend of mismanagement and negligence.
“As external students, we demand that the rector take immediate and decisive measures to address these ongoing issues and retract his action of shutting down the school. The lack of effective leadership and urgency is concerning
And as such, it is crucial for the rector to take responsibility and act promptly in these circumstances.
“We wish to emphasize to all students that the claim of an indefinite strike is unfounded.
“We urge all students to come to campus and engage in discussions aimed at finding a resolution.”
