Mohbad: How Actor Yomi Fabiyi Almost Got Duped N3M Over Artist’s Matter

Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi called a press conference on Wednesday to share his experience regarding investigation surrounding the death of musician Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad and how he was almost duped by someone impersonating the late singer’s brother who claimed he had a video evidence on who actually killed Mohbad, demanding N3M for the piece of evidence.

Fabiyi, who is the convener of the Break the Silence Foundation narrated how the impostor aggressively engaged him on TikTok Live at the conference attended by Adura Aloba and Mohbad’s mother, Mrs. Abosede Aloba,

According to Fabiyi, on 11th of December, 2024, while on TikTok Live at about 4 PM discussing the importance of video evidence and credible witness accounts in pursuing justice for Mohbad, Adura Aloba, Mohbad’s younger texted him on TikTok with a three-minute video recording of a purported fight that occurred between the late Mohbad and his wife, Cynthia Aloba, demanding N3 million for a full clip.

“He (the impostor acting as Adura Mohbad’s younger brother) further explained how the violence between his brother and his wife resulted in Mohbad falling off the stairs and hitting his head, which could be linked to the bent neck in the casket and the blood some individuals found in the house after the singer’s passing.

“The following morning, I immediately informed the Deputy Commissioner of Police heading the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID Panti), which is responsible for the ongoing homicide investigation, as well as the Command Public Relations Officer. The DCP agreed that I could submit a petition upon request, which I did, and it was acknowledged.

The action by Fabiyi galvanised the police into action which led to the arrest of the suspect.

“While awaiting feedback on the new leads from Panti, I received a phone call from a police officer named Shedrack Enabor. He introduced himself as the investigating police officer (IPO) from the CP Special Squad 1 and informed me of a case of impersonation brought to the attention of the Commissioner of Police by Adura Aloba. He requested my presence to discuss their findings and progress. I reminded him of my earlier petition to the SCID regarding the same matter.

“They informed me that their investigation revealed it was not Adura Aloba who had been chatting with me but one Habeeb Damola Ayinde, another close associate of the late Mohbad, who was present in the house when Mohbad died and helped rush him to the hospital,” Fabiyi said

“I requested to see the alleged impersonator, and he was brought out. I asked him if he was the one who had been chatting with me, and he confirmed that he was. When I asked if the video was from a fight in Mohbad’s house, he said yes, but claimed it was a fight between Wunmi and another member of Mohbad’s crew. I further probed how he had access to Adura’s TikTok account, and at that point, the police intervened, explaining that Adura had sold the phone to Damola in November but forgot to log out of his TikTok account, which allowed him to take such actions,” he added.
