Mohbad’s Family Gets Court Approval for Second Autopsy
Following the death of 27-year-old singer Mohbad on September 12, 2023, under controversial circumstances, public outcry led to his body being exhumed for an autopsy by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) on September 21, 2023.
However, the results of this initial autopsy were deemed inconclusive, prompting Mohbad’s family to express their dissatisfaction.
Subsequently, they sought and were granted permission by the Ikorodu Magistrate’s Court in Lagos State to conduct a second autopsy.
His family, however, rejected the result of the autopsy over its failure to reveal the cause of death. And she pleaded with the coroner’s inquest’s presiding magistrate to ensure that an independent toxicology report is submitted to the court before the final report is submitted to the authorities.
However, during a hearing on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, Ikorodu magistrate court granted Mohad’s family and their legal representatives permission for a second autopsy.
