Moneygram Donates Books To School
Leading global payment Services Company, MoneyGram International Corporate, has donated exercise books to pupils of arch bishop Taylor Nursery & primary school, Victoria Island Lagos. Speaking at the event, the executive Vice President, Africa and emerging channels, Mr Carl-Olav Scheible, said the donation was necessitated by the fact that Nigeria is the future of Africa while the future of Nigeria are the children.
“We see Africa as an important market forsending and receiving money and we have donated books worth over $5 million while 30 percent of that amount comes to Nigeria. We have worked with 17 countries in Africa and in partnership with UBA also sponsor some educational games for undergraduates in Nigeria”, scheible said.
Expressing her appreciation, the head teacher of the school, Mrs Olufunmilayo Olusanya said the gesture would boost learning especially when considering the background of the pupils.
“These means a lot to these kids as most of them are children of gate-men and house helps and hardly have writing materials. The kids are happy and this would make them eager to learn because having writing materials make it easier to learn and write.
