More Heartbreak For Amorim As Man Utd’s Sporting Director Resigns

More heartbreak for Manchester United‘s head coach, Ruben Amorim As the club’s sporting director, Dan Ashworth resigned from his position just a few months into his appointment.

Ashworth joined Man United in July 2024 after the Red Devils reached an agreement with Newcastle United.

The Englishman played a huge role in their £183 million spending spree in Ineos’ first transfer window.

He also played a part in rewarding Erik Ten Hag with a new contract in the summer before he was sacked a few months later.

Ashworth leaves United 

According to reports from the Athletic, Dan Ashworth has left his role as Manchester United’s sporting director after just five months of taking up the job.

In a meeting with chief executive Omar Berrada at Old Trafford, Ashworth’s departure was decided, following United’s loss against Nottingham Forest on Saturday night.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe played a key role in the decision, despite his plan to restructure the Man United team.

According to reports, the club came to a mutually agreeable decision to terminate Ashworth’s contract.

Ashworth was in charge of player recruitment and brought in the likes of Leny Yoro, Manuel Ugarte, Matthijs De Ligt, Joshua Zirkzee, and Noussair Mazraoui during the summer transfer window.

With his departure, the club have not made any decision on who will be appointed as the new sporting director.
