NBTE Rates Poly Ibadan Best State Owned Polytechnic This Year

The National Board for Technical Education this year rated The Polytechnic, Ibadan as the best state owned Polytechnic and rated fourth best Polytechnic among over one hundred and twelve Polytechnics in Nigeria. 

As a leading authority in African History, Professor Adebanji Akintoye will next week deliver the 32/33 combined convocation lecture of The Polytechnic Ibadan. 

This disclosure was made by Deputy Rector and Chairman of the graduation ceremony planning committee, Mr. Bayo Oyeleke on Wednesday while addressing a press conference heralding the combined convocation ceremonies of the institution. 

According to him, “This rating was a reflection of the exceptional leadership quality and administrative prowess of our current management team as well as the quality of the staff both teaching and non-teaching. 

“In 2015, the students of Computer Science department came first in the inter-school software competition organised by the Computer Science Association of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. 

“Also in August this year the students of department of Mechanical Engineering came third on the International Innovation Challenge competition organised by National Institution of Mechanical Engineering, Lagos chapter. In the area of innovation, the students of Computer Engineering have developed on-line voting application. 

“The application was tested during 2018 computer engineering department election and produced excellent results at the end of the voting exercise. This can be improved on for the use in the larger society and can be extended to the national elections in Nigeria”. 

While speaking further, Oyeleke said the lecture is being organised with intent to broadening the knowledge of the graduands. 

According to him, “The graduation lecture has been slated for Thursday 13th December 2018. The lecture titled “The great prospects of Nigeria’s polytechnic graduates” will be delivered by Professor Adebanji Akintoye, a leading authority in the second republic and was part of intellectual caucus of the then Unity Party of Nigeria. 

“The lecture is organised with the intent of broadening the knowledge of all the graduands and to educate them on the great prospect that are abounds for polytechnic graduates to tap from Nigeria and outside the country. The lecture will serve as parting advice for them to be successful in life”.

Speaking further, Oyeleke enjoined the graduands to promote the integrity of the institution wherever they find themselves. 

“While felicitating with our students, parents, guardians and well-wishers, I enjoin all the graduands that whatever you find yourselves try to promote the integrity of The Polytechnic Ibadan and remain its good ambassadors. 

He stressed that the ceremony will serve as social and moral reward for parents and guardians who put in their hard earned resources to support their children.

“At the ceremony, National Diploma, Higher National Diploma, Post Graduate and full Professional Diploma Certificates will be rewarded to graduands. Prizes will also be presented to all students who exceptionally excelled across programmes and also those who recorded best performance in other extra-curricular activities”.
