Ibom Air‘s cabin crew member, Juliana Edward, and the passenger involved in last week’s controversy aboard one of their flights, Comfort Emmanson, have both been summoned by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for further investigation.
The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at NCAA, Michael Achimugu, confirmed the development during a question-and-answer session at the Emergency National Civil Aviation Security Committee and Stakeholders’ Meeting held on Tuesday in Abuja.
“I have spoken with Ms. Emmanson this morning. We are also inviting the Ibom Air cabin crew for continued investigation on the incident. They will be here tomorrow,” Achimugu said.
Clarifying details of the flight, Achimugu explained that contrary to earlier reports, the pilot did not invite security operatives upon landing in Lagos, since the issue appeared to have been resolved before arrival.
He noted, however, that Emmanson visited the restroom after touchdown and eventually became the last passenger to disembark.

Achimugu assured that the NCAA was committed to uncovering “all the facts surrounding the incident”.
Reacting to the wider trend of misconduct in the aviation sector, Senator Buhari Abdulfatai, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Aviation, said such incidents were linked to a growing decline in discipline among passengers, airport staff, and crew.
Meanwhile, the NCAA had earlier directed that all mobile phones must be completely switched off during aircraft take-off and landing, following the controversy sparked by Emmanson’s confrontation with cabin crew.
