New Queen, New Energy: Sophia Momodu Shakes Up The Real Housewives of Lagos

Just when we thought The Real Housewives of Lagos Season 3 had found its rhythm, a new queen arrived to shake things up. Sophia Momodu made her debut and wasted no time making a statement with her boisterous presence. From her bold personality to her unapologetic stance on relationships—“Wetin I wan carry poor man do?”—Sophia is already setting the tone for her time on the show.
As the ladies navigate shifting alliances, luxury events, and long-overdue apologies, the energy in the group is evolving. Laura and Carolyna’s unexpected meeting looms, Dabota and Mariam’s tension is brewing, and Sophia is stepping into the mix with confidence and style. But how will the rest of the cast respond to her presence?
In an exclusive interview, Sophia Momodu opened up about her journey to joining the show, her experience filming, and what fans can expect this season.
A stage for queens: Why Sophia said yes to RHOL
Sophia was drawn to the The Real Housewives of Lagos franchise because of its focus on showcasing successful women. “When I was first approached by The Real Housewives of Lagos team, I was mostly drawn by the fact that they were trying to put together the women who are leading in their respective career fields,” Sophia explained. “I respected that because I felt seen as an entrepreneur in the fashion industry.” Sophia also appreciated how the show acknowledged her philanthropic efforts through the Precious Jones Foundation. “I was also touched by the fact that they were aware of my charity foundation, Precious Jones Foundation, and what we have been doing so far.”
Drama, egos, and lessons
The filming process was both exciting and challenging for Sophia, as it required navigating a variety of personalities. “The filming experience was interesting, you know, to be able to be around so many big personalities, and life-size egos and to still be able to maintain grace was an interesting experience and a learning experience as well,” she said.
Through this, Sophia discovered a deeper sense of self-assurance. “I realized that I literally could be around anybody and not be out of character. So, I like that about myself, and I thoroughly enjoyed filming.” Reflecting on the relationships she built on set, Sophia said, “For me, it was not any competition to be the queen of everybody’s queen, or to be better than anybody, or to be seen. I saw everyone as a queen because I am very confident in myself.”
What to expect this season
Sophia is confident her presence has brought a new energy to The Real Housewives of Lagos. “Without having to say too much or sound corky, I’d respectfully say that I pretty much brought life to the entire season,” she said.
“I don’t get in immediately and then there’s the anticipation of ‘where is Sophia?’” She noted how her entry into the show inspired the cast to elevate their game. “There was no longer any mediocrity because I feel like the OGs were trying to be gracious enough to not tell the others that there was some mediocrity going on, which is what I noticed, and I called it out.”
A new lens on friendship and community
Being part of the The Real Housewives of Lagos franchise taught Sophia valuable lessons about sisterhood and community. “The platform has taught me about sisterhood because even in the moments where we disagreed, we still had to be around each other, we still had to respect each other,” she said.
She also reflected on the overwhelming support from fans. “I actually have a huge fan base that I knew about but wasn’t conscious of, and just the warm welcome and the excitement that I’m seeing, and receiving, and soaking up is just amazing.”
A season to remember
As fans prepare for the return of The Real Housewives of Lagos, Sophia’s journey promises to be one of the highlights. From heartfelt moments of sisterhood to bold confrontations, she’s ready to deliver a season filled with authenticity and excitement.
