The Minister of Niger Delta Development, Abubakar Momoh, met with the former leader of the defunct Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo, seeking sustained collaboration in upholding peace in the region, facilitating optimal oil production and alleviating oil theft.
It was gathered that the meeting took place on Sunday in Oporoza, headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State.
It was also gathered that the minister also met with the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Oboro-Gbaraun II, Aketekpe, Agadagba, as part of his ongoing strategic consultation efforts to address the multifaceted challenges in the oil-rich region.
In the Minister’s entourage was the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, and some other top officials of the Niger Delta ministry.
Momoh who conveyed Mr. President’s message and his hosts deliberated on strategies to combat crude oil theft and improve infrastructure in the region.
The minister appealed for continued efforts to uphold peace in the region, facilitating optimal oil production and minimizing oil theft.
