NiMET Issues New Weather Forecast

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a new weather forecast for Monday, August 25, 2025, covering various regions of the country, as reported by Naija News.
The details were released in a statement on Sunday, 24th August.
NIMET said thunderstorms with moderate rains are expected in the northern states on Monday morning in parts of Borno, Yobe, Jigawa, Gombe, Bauchi, Adamawa, Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Taraba, and Kaduna States.
In the afternoon/evening, thunderstorms with moderate rains are anticipated in parts of Kano, Kebbi, Gombe, Bauchi, Jigawa, Katsina, Sokoto, Taraba, Kaduna, Adamawa, Yobe, and Borno States.
For the central states, the meteorological agency told residents of Niger, Nasarawa, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Benue State to expect thunderstorms with moderate rains in the morning.
The agency noted that thunderstorms with light rain are anticipated in parts of Nasarawa, Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Niger, Plateau, and the FCT for the afternoon and evening.
In the southern states, cloudy skies with chances of light rains over Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Abia States are expected in the morning while in the afternoon/evening, intermittent light rains are expected in parts of Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo, Oyo, Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu, Abia, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Cross River, and Bayelsa States.
NIMET added that there is a high possibility of flooding in parts of Borno and Yobe States. It therefore urged residents in flood-prone areas to take necessary precautions.
The agency added that local authorities, emergency services, and relevant stakeholders should remain on alert.
