NPFL Round Up: Heartland FC Of Owerri Stun Akwa United At Home With A Win, Ifeanyi Ubah Loose Away, Abia Warriors Held At Home

The weekend saw some actions take place in the Nigerian Professional football league across the country and we would take a brief highlight on the various matches that took place. 

Heartland recorded their second win of the season Nigeria Professional Football League on Sunday edging out Akwa United 2-1 at the Okigwe Township Stadium.

Mfon Udoh poked the ball beyond Ikechukwu Ezenwa in the 34th minute following a pass from Seth Mayi.

Heartland rallied back through goals from Samuel Nnoshiri and Nduka Pasacal Eze

Sunshine Stars and Nasarawa United recorded away wins.

At the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, Sunshine Stars beat their hosts Dakkada 2-1 in a thrilling contest.

Sadeeq Yusuf directed his header into the net from Seun Olulayo’s corner kick in the 12th minute.

Jesam Edet equalised for the home team a minute after the hour mark.

Yusuf scored the winning goal in the 67th minute after another assist by Olulayo.

In Uzoro, Nasarawa United came back from a goal down to record a 2-1 win against their hosts Warri Wolves.

Uche Ihuarulam headed Wolves in front from a Jumbo Wisdom pinpoint cross in the 21st minute.

Silas Nwankwo equalised for Nasarawa United in the 63rd minute following poor defending by the home team.

The visitors netted the winner through Chinedu Ohanachom 12 minutes from time.

Olawala Farayola scored a late winner as Kwara United beat FC IfeanyiUbah 1-0 in Ilorin.

In another fixture, Rangers and Lobi Stars battled to a 0-0 draw at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium, Enugu.

Abia Warriors were also held to a 0-0 draw by MFM.
