NPFL Roundup: Heartland Of Owerri Suffer Third Consecutive Defeat

The weekend saw some actions in the Nigerian football Professional league , below are the brief highlights of what transpired across Nigeria

 Rivers United maintained their perfect start to the season following an emphatic 3-0 win against Kwara United in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

Towering centre-back Ifeanyi Anaemena opened scoring for the hosts in the 32nd minute, while Godwin Aguda added the second a minute later.

Chika Godwin scored the third goal from the spot on 90 minutes.

Plateau United recorded their first win of the campaign after a 3-0 win against Heartland at the New Jos Stadium.

Muhammadu Zulkifili, Amos Gyang and Jesse Akila scored the goals for Abdu Makaiba’s men.

Heartland are without a win in three league games this season.

Lobi Stars also recorded another big win at the Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi, thrashing Warri Wolves 3-0.

Ossy Martins put Lobi Stars ahead in the first minute, with Mathias Samuel and Chinonso Okonkwo adding the second and third goals in the 60th and 90th minutes respectively.

Former champions Enugu Rangers beat Jigawa Golden Stars 1-0 away at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

Israel Abia scored the decisive goal 11 minutes from time.

Dakkada also beat FC IfeanyiUbah 1-0 away with Nnamdi Mejuobi netting the winner a minute before the half hour mark.

In the South West Derby, MFM beat Sunshine Stars 1-0 in a keenly contested tie at the Agege Stadium.

Dennis Obasi scored the winning goal in the seventh minute.

Nabil Yarou was on target in the 24th minute as Enyimba narrowly beat Wikki Tourists 1-0 in Aba.

At the Lafia Township Stadium, Nasarawa United and Kano Pillars battled to a 1-1 draw.

Substitute Nyima Nwagua put Pillars ahead three minutes after the break, while Adamu Hassan equalised for the home team seven minutes from time.
