Olamide Unveils New EP ‘Ikigai’, Features Asake and Fireboy

Renowned Nigerian hip-hop artist Olamide, a dominant figure in the music scene for over a decade, recently delighted fans by announcing his latest project, the ‘Ikigai’ EP.

The news broke on June 26, 2024, via Olamide’s social media platforms, shortly after his unexpected performance at the wedding celebration of fellow artist Davido and Chioma.

This 7-track EP, whose title draws from a Japanese term signifying “a reason to live,” showcases collaborations with YBNL stars Fireboy and Asake on the track “Uptown Disco.”

Additionally, Olamide reunites with former YBNL associates Pheelz, Young Jonn, and Lil Kesh on “Synchro System,” and features Sabri on another track.

Before the official announcement, the artist teased a snippet of ‘Hello Habibi’ on his Instagram story, which is now known to be track 5 on the EP.

This surprise release is particularly exciting as he had previously stated on his X (formerly Twitter) account in 2023 that his last album, ‘Unruly’, might be his final project.

His consistent delivery of hit records continues to impress, with his last project featuring popular tracks like ‘Trumpet’ feat CKay, ‘New Religion’ featuring Asake, and ‘Jinja’.

Olamide’s fans, the YBNL Mafias, are eagerly anticipating the release of ‘Ikigai’, especially with the exciting YBNL reunions it promises.

His legacy in Nigerian music continues to grow with each new release.
