The Osun State House of Assembly Speaker, Hon. Adewale Egbedun, and 24 other legislators who were elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) banner have crossed over to the Accord Party.
It was gathered that the lawmakers took the decision on Friday after their meeting at the Assembly complex.
According to available information, the decision was to align with Governor Ademola Adeleke’s hold on the Accord Party ahead of the governorship poll slated for August 15, 2026.
The governor had, in December last year, joined the Accord Party while the lawmakers remained in the PDP until their decision on Friday.
When contacted, the Speaker’s spokesperson, Olamide Tiamiyu, confirmed the report, saying the 25 PDP elected lawmakers have joined Accord Party while the only APC lawmaker remains in the opposition.
He added that further details would be provided in due course.
