Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has stated that the residents of the state will resist any efforts to undermine their electoral mandate in the 2026 governorship election.
The governor, in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Monday, insisted that vigilance and mass participation would be the weapons to stop what he described as “electoral robbers.”
Adeleke urged the indigenes of Osun, especially those residing outside the state, to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise by returning their Permanent Voter Cards to their hometowns.
The governor said, “I call on Osun residents outside the state to transfer their voting cards to the state and ensure mass participation for retention of people-oriented leadership by August 2026.
Our voting card is our weapon to prove that good governance is a possibility as Osun had been experiencing in the last two and half years.”
He further stated that beyond registering, citizens must ensure they vote and protect their votes during the election.
The governor maintained that Osun had witnessed steady development under his watch, stressing that sustaining such progress would depend on active civic involvement.

“We must be getting ready to stop electoral robbers if they ever attempt to thwart electoral wills of the people,” Adeleke declared.
Adeleke also charged state officials, community leaders, and opinion leaders across all local government areas to mobilise their people for the voter registration exercise.
He said his administration remains committed to defending the democratic rights of the electorate.
Expressing optimism in the process, the governor assured the people that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would conduct a credible and seamless exercise in the interest of democracy.
