…Committee Gives Gov One Month To Unite Aggrieved Members
The end is yet to be seen on the crisis rocking Oyo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as some aggrieved members of the party shunned a meeting conveyed by the leadership of the party, led by a former senate president, Senator Bukola Saraki.
The Reconciliation and Strategic Committee set up by the national secretariat of the party was inaugurated to put an end to crisis rocking the party.
Aside Alhaji Bisi Olopoeyan who attended only the first meeting held at Carlton Gate with the Bukola Saraki led committee but the likes of Federal lawmaker, Hon. Ajibola Muraina, Engr. Femi Babalola Jogor and some leaders failed to show up at both Carlton Gate, Idi Ape and Presidential villa, at government House.
Olopoeyan was noticed walking out after the first meeting ended, but was said to have deliberate not present with the Reconciliation Committee to meet the governor.
Speaking why he was not present at the government house’s meeting with Governor Makinde and reconciliation committee, Olopoeyan disclosed that he has to stay away because of security reason.
He cited Osogbo zonal congress as an example where one of the Governor Makinde’s appointees, Mukaila Lamidi popularly known as Auxiliary was threatening his life and other leaders of the party.
According to him, “I cannot go to government house because of the security reason, anything can happen. At least all of you can see where Auxiliary was openly threatening me and former Governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose.
“So going there is like going to lion den. It is better for me to stay away. We have told Senator Saraki our grievances and he promised to find lasting solution to our complain”.
Another aggrieved member who attended both Carlton Gate and government house meeting,
former Majority Leader, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Michael Okunlade said though the Governor promised to take care of the party and members but they have to be conscious because this is not the first time he would made such promise.
He disclosed that Senator Saraki-led reconciliation committee gave Governor Makinde to address our complain but we have to keep our fingers crossed because “our issue is like once beaten twice shy”.
Other aggrieved party leaders present at both Carlton Gate and Presidential lodge meetings included former deputy governor of the state, Alhaji Hazeem Gbolarumi; former commissioner for environment, Majekodunmi Aborode; former Director-General, 2019 Oyo Central senatorial campaign for Chief Bisi Ilaka, Bola Akinyemi.
Others are Chief Nureni Akanbi; the PDP Youth Leader, Asiwaju Adekola Adeoye; strong leaders of the party from Oke-Ogun axis such as Baba Elisha and others.
