A leading People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Governorship Aspirant in Oyo State, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has congratulated the party on the successful appointment and swearing-in of a National Caretaker Committee to run its affairs.
It could be recalled that the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the PDP and His Excellency, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, on Monday ratified the appointment of a 13-member Caretaker Committee headed by Tanimu Turaki (SAN), as chairman.
The decision was taken at the party’s 103rd NEC meeting held on Monday in Abuja, following a motion moved by the Edo State PDP Chairman, Tony Aziegbemi, and seconded by the party’s ex officio member, Clement.
Ajadi, in a statement issued shortly after the party’s decision, congratulated the new Caretaker committee headed by Tanimu Turaki (SAN).
He urges the Turaki-led Committee, especially the National Secretary, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, to ensure that the unity the party is enjoying after the Supreme Court verdict is built upon.
He reminded the committee that it is assuming responsibility at a critical time, saying there is no time to waste as, according to him, all hands must be on deck to ensure victory for the party in the next year’s election.
According to the statement, “I congratulate our party, the PDP, on the successful inauguration of the new caretaker committee that will be steering the ship of the party. The members of the committee are no doubt men of integrity, experience, and good character.
“I particularly congratulate the Chairman, Alhaji Tanimu Turaki, and the Secretary, our leader, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja.
“I wish to remind the committee that the task ahead is herculean and that the Almighty God will guide them right. We should do all that is possible to ensure our party secures victory in next year’s election.
“PDP is the only national party in the country, and we should not disappoint millions of Nigerians who are looking up to the party to rescue them from the untold hardship fostered on them by the ruling APC.
“To our supporters nationwide, they should be assured that PDP is bouncing back and we will reclaim our leading position. Our victory is sure to come in 2027. PDP is an Iroko tree that cannot be pulled down.
