PDP: Wike’s Faction Elects Mohammed, Anyanwu, Others as NWC

Abdulrahman Mohammed and Samuel Anyanwu have been confirmed as the substantive National Chairman and National Secretary, respectively, of the faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that remains aligned with Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike.

The duo emerged during the party’s elective National Convention held at the velodrome of Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Sunday.

Mohammed, Anyanwu, and others secured their positions by consensus.

The affirmed officers include Aaron Chukwuemeka (Deputy National Chairman, South), Yusufu Nya Akirikwen (SAN) (Deputy National Chairman, North), Kolawale Olabisi (Deputy National Secretary), Odeyemei Mackson Oladiran (National Treasurer), and Lado Dan Marke (Deputy National Treasurer), among others.

Also listed are Eyim Donatus Henry, Dr Grema Kyari, Umar Mohammed Bature, Efere Augustine, Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, Egwu Goodluck Chidiebere, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), Barr. Aloysius Chinemelu U. Uba, Osuoha Okechukwu Donatus, Dr Adaba Yatu, Ibrahim Bala Aboki, and Momoh Dejih Eugene Bashir, while Professor Ogunshe Adedayo and Hauwa Ahmed Shinge serve as National Women Leader and Deputy National Women Leader, respectively.

The new NWC members, led by Abdulrahman Mohammed, have been sworn in.

PDP Will Contest the 2027 Election

Speaking at the event, Wike gave fresh assurances that the PDP will be on the ballot for the 2027 elections.

He, however, urged the party to embrace inclusiveness, with equal opportunity for party members, and also commended the delegates at the Abuja convention for demonstrating good character.

“So many people have spoken here. Saraki has said, with Abba Moro, and they were asking, ‘Is the PDP going to contest the 2027 election at all?’

“I have told Senator Saraki that, by the grace of God, the PDP will be on the ballot in 2027. We have seen the real convention, the convention that is being monitored by the electoral umpire. That is the convention that is recognised,” he said.
