Peter Obi No Longer a Member of Labour Party – Arabambi

The Labour Party (LP) National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, announced that the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) will soon meet to recommend the expulsion of its 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Arabambi, while speaking on Tuesday during the Channels Television Morning Brief, stated that Peter Obi is no longer a member of the Labour Party.

Arabambi explained that Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State, who had previously been suspended, engaged in activities that the party considered anti-party.

He said, “You don’t join a political party and still keep your leg in another party. He knows it is unconstitutional to belong to two political parties at the same time.

“They have succeeded in luring him to their side, and there he shall remain.

“When we want to expel any member who acts contrary to our constitution, the NEC makes the recommendation, and final approval is given at the convention.

“So, Obi will be expelled from our party; he is no longer a member of the Labour Party.”

Meanwhile, Peter Obi has stated that he remains a chieftain of LP despite being a vibrant member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) opposition coalition aimed at unseating President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.

Peter Obi, during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics programme, said his actions do not in any way constitute anti-party activity.

The former Governor of Anambra State emphasised that the coalition is seeking better governance for this country and wants to see a more competent government with the capacity and character to deliver.
