Plateau Tribunal Nullifies Speaker’s Victory
The National and State Houses of Assembly Elections Petitions Tribunal sitting in Jos, has on Friday nullified the victory of Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Moses Sule, as the lawmaker representing the Mikang State constituency.
The speaker was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The tribunal ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw a certificate of return earlier issued to him.
It also ordered that the certificate should be given to the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Daniel Nanlong, who scored the second-highest number of votes cast during the election
The tribunal had ruled against the speaker on the basis that his party, the PDP, had no legal structure to nominate him as a candidate to stand for election during the last poll
