The Ogun State Police Command on Wednesday said its operatives have arrested two students of Tai Solarin University of Education, (TASUED), Ijagun, and one other for alleged cultism.
Those arrested were Adekoya Boluwatife Temilade, a 200-level student of the Political Science Department, Adio Oluwafemi Ifeoluwapo, a 300-level level student of Technical Education, and one Agboluaje Okikiola Segun who is said not to be a student.
They were all said to have claimed to be members of Alora Confraternity during a police investigation.
The suspected cultists, according to information posted on the verified Facebook page of the command, were arrested around 3pm on Wednesday, 21st of February, by a police patrol team led by the Divisional Police Officer of Igbeba, Ijebu Ode.
The patrol team was said to have been drafted to the university to work with the school’s internal security personnel to ensure law and order for the university’s Students’ Union Government (SUG) elections scheduled for Thursday (today).
While working with the school’s internal security, the police reportedly intercepted an intelligence suggesting that some unscrupulous cultists were perfecting strategies to disrupt the election, hence the police went after them and got the three of them arrested.
One locally cut-to-size pistol gun loaded with one live cartridge was found on Adekoya Boluwatife while local concoctions suspected to be criminal charms were found on Adio Oluwafemi.
