President  Tinubu Swears In New Ministers

President Bola Tinubu has formally administered the oath of office to Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as the newly appointed Minister of Power, and Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

The ceremony was held on Monday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja and was attended by family members of the new ministers, top government officials, and other guests.

Their appointments followed recent shakeups in the Federal Executive Council after former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, resigned from their positions to pursue governorship ambitions in their respective states.

Following their exit, President Tinubu nominated Tegbe and Enikanolaiye to fill the vacant positions.

The two nominees were later screened and confirmed by the Senate on May 6, 2026, clearing the way for their inauguration into office.

Tegbe, who is from Ibadan in Oyo State, brings decades of experience in economic management, public sector reforms, and institutional development.

Over a career spanning more than 35 years, he has worked across both government and private sectors, building a reputation in policy execution, strategic planning, and stakeholder relations.

Enikanolaiye, a native of Igbagun in Kogi State, has a strong academic and diplomatic background.

He graduated with a First Class degree in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he emerged as the best graduating student in his faculty.

He later obtained a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos, finishing with distinction.

Before his latest appointment, Enikanolaiye served as Senior Special Assistant to President Tinubu on Foreign Affairs and International Relations in the Office of the Chief of Staff.

Throughout his diplomatic career, he represented Nigeria in several countries and international missions.

His postings included Ethiopia, Serbia, Canada, and the United Kingdom. He also served as Nigeria’s Head of Mission in New Delhi, India, before returning to take up responsibilities within the Presidency.
