Thames Valley Police detectives have returned to Royal Lodge in Berkshire to continue their search, after Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
Investigators were seen carrying out further activity at the property as inquiries continue into allegations linked to the late convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein.
The former duke was previously taken into custody but has since been released under investigation.
Being released under investigation means Mountbatten-Windsor faces no bail conditions at this stage. However, police retain the power to reinterview or rearrest him as the probe progresses.
After his release, he returned to the Sandringham Estate while detectives continued their assessment of evidence gathered from the Berkshire property.
Police have yet to confirm whether the case will be referred to the Crown Prosecution Service for charging advice.
In a brief statement, King Charles III said, “the law must take its course,” adding that there would be full cooperation with authorities.
The monarch was not informed of the arrest in advance and is not expected to make further public comments while investigations remain active.
Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, are understood to support the King’s position.
The investigation stems from an assessment of allegations said to be connected to Epstein.
Mountbatten-Windsor has consistently denied any wrongdoing and has not publicly responded to specific claims regarding the latest development.
