Credible signs are pointing to the likelihood that former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, could officially collect his membership card from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as early as Wednesday.
Sources within the party’s leadership disclosed to The Whistler on Tuesday that Kwankwaso is expected to register as a member in his hometown, Kwankwaso, in the Madobi Local Government Area of Kano State.
Kwankwaso, who was the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 presidential election, has recently hosted key figures of the ADC at his residence in Kano.
The visits have intensified speculation about a possible defection to the opposition party.
Among those who recently met with him was the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, also held a meeting with Kwankwaso amid growing reports that the former Kano governor may be considering a political realignment.
Makinde is a leading figure in a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with Kabiru Turaki, SAN.
