Ramadan, Lent Set to Fall in Same Period in 2026

Lent, the Christian season, and Ramadan, the Islamic holy month, will once more coincide in 2026, marking another occurrence in their uncommon multi-year overlap.

This convergence is particularly notable because both the Lenten season (Ash Wednesday) and Ramadan are projected to start on the same day, February 18, 2026.

Lent’s 40-day period begins on Ash Wednesday, February 18, 2026, while Ramadan’s 30-day fast runs from February 18 to March 19, 2026.

With both starting on February 18, 2026, the convergence offers a unique, rare opportunity for interfaith unity, sharing, and reflection on common values like prayer, fasting, and charity.

Both emphasise fasting, sober reflection, prayer, repentance, almsgiving, spiritual awakening, and empathy for the less privileged.

This convergence is often viewed as a powerful reminder of shared human commonality, fostering peace, reconciliation, and understanding in a diverse world.

It sometimes includes other holidays, such as Passover, and highlights a rare moment when major religious groups can collectively focus on spiritual growth and compassion.
