A man shot dead in a Christmas Day execution in Brazil has been identified as the brother-in-law of Real Madrid striker Endrick, according to reports.
Mauricio Nunes Goncalves, 38, was killed in a hail of bullets at a street bar in Samambaia, near the capital city of Brasília.
Witnesses say he was shot multiple times in the head while attempting to escape what authorities are calling a “targeted” attack.
Goncalves was the brother of the partner of Endrick’s older sister, Lavinia Sudre, but local media in Brazil have been referring to him as the footballer’s brother-in-law.

After the tragic news, Lavinia changed her Instagram profile picture to an image of a black ribbon in mourning.
She also paid tribute to Goncalves, posting a photo of him and writing, “You left beautiful memories in our hearts that we will never forget.”
The murder occurred early on Wednesday morning, and Goncalves’ funeral was scheduled for Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. local time.
As of Thursday, police were still investigating the killing, with no arrests reported.
Witnesses have told police there was no apparent argument between the gunman and Goncalves before the attack, which they described as a cold-blooded execution.
Endrick, an 18-year-old Brazilian international, has not yet commented on the incident.
The striker, who transferred from Palmeiras to Real Madrid this summer in a deal reportedly worth up to £60 million, has struggled for playing time at the Spanish club.
Recent speculation in Spain suggests he may be loaned to Real Betis for six months to gain more opportunities on the pitch.
