Residents Want Street Gang Violence Tame In Ogba

For over some years now Lagos State has been battling with the menace of combating street gang wars and cult related issues. The alarming rate with wish the gang wars is spreading like wildfire is a call for concern.

It has really dented the image of the state. As much as the government is doing to cub and stop this insecurity, those involved always find a new means to propagate and their evil act.

A lot of lives have been lost with properties worth millions of naira destroyed anytime a case like that surfaces.

Some of the areas in Lagos known for this street gang wars are notably, Mushin, Fadeyi, Bariga, Shomolu, Iyana Oworo, Ikorodu, Abattoir (Agege), Agege. These mentioned areas are dangerous zones whenever these boy decided to engage in supremacy wars.

Countless of battles have happened at these mentioned areas. Those living in those areas sleeps with one eyes closed. Always on the watchout.

Inspite of all these insecurity perpetrating by these notorious gangsters, one area in Lagos has been so free of this gang wars.

Ogba, Ikeja, known for its industrial setting and entertainment status is at the verge of becoming one trouble zones in Lagos State. The most troubled part is the characters involved in this battle.

One Baale of Yaya Abatan, Adeola Abatan, Seun SP, Adeyemi, Canada, Saheed Agbara, Stubborn and some other boys in the Yaya Abatan community. On the 1st of September 2019, the peace enjoyed in that area was thrown into the wind.

The trouble started when the boys in the area decided to support the candidacy of the Chairman Caretaker Committee of  Lagos State National Union of Road and Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya popularly call MC Oluomo against the decision of Chief Adeola Abatan, the Baale who also doubles as an NURTW chairman at a branch in Ogba garage.

The Baale, according to news gathered is a known foot soldier of the immediate past Lagos State NURTW chairman, Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede.

The decision of Yaya Abatan boys, under the leadership of Seun, who has been clamoring and supporting the candidacy of MC Oluomo, decided to hang a banner in celebration of their candidate victory was met with violence resistance from the Baale who insisted that all banners supporting the victory of MC Oluomo, should be removed from his territory.

This build a lot of tension in the area and which finally degenerated into a free for all fight. The pandemonium lasted for about five hours before men of Nigeria Police could brought it under control.

When the mayhem lasted, The Baale, according to eyewitnesses was seen fighting, throwing punches and using stones to fight his opponents. One of those at the scene who talk to the reporter under anonymity expressed concern while no one stood with the Baale to support or fight by his side.

Seun SP, who was mentioned to be the leader of the boys was said to be seriously wounded by the Baale. It was rumored that the said Seun SP, started vomiting blood after confronting the Baale.

It was the intervention of men of the Nigeria Police, that quench the mayhem otherwise it would have degenerated into loss of lives and properties.

The people of Ogba is using this medium to call on Lagos State Government and all the security agencies to come to their aid so as to curb the situation before it degenerated beyond control.
