RRS Intensifies Security Operations Across Lagos
The Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS) has intensified its operations across the State to protect the lives and property of all Lagosians by curtailing the activities of armed robbers and hoodlums in different parts of Lagos.
The October monthly report issued by the RRS Commander, ACP Olatunji Disu, noted that several robbery incidents were foiled with the quick response and intervention of the squad, apart from its regular activities of responding to emergencies and motorised patrol of all nooks and crannies in Lagos.
According to Disu, RRS Operatives responded to an emergency call on the 14th October, 2018, caught and arrested the duo of Tayo Ogedengbe (29) and Oyetunji Dosunmu (25) with a submersible pumping machine stolen from a store on Obafemi Awolowo Way, Alausa, Ikeja.
The Commander also disclosed that while at their security location, the RRS team arrested the duo of Adebayo Tajudeen (27) and Sunday Itochukwu (24) for stealing two Infinix phones from Famoyin Oluwabunmi and Agu Courage respectively at Oshodi Bus-stop. The arrested suspects were searched after being apprehended and other items stolen from unknown individuals were found in their possession.
The suspects, who confessed to stealing the phones from passers-by and passengers, were subsequently taken to the nearest Police Station for further investigation and prosecution.
He disclosed further that another quick intervention by a patrol team of the Command led to the resolution of a disagreement between two rival groups disturbing the peace at Bajulaiye Abiodun Apata junction in Somolu area of Lagos, adding that the squad had arrived the scene of the fray to discover that members of each faction were using dangerous weapons freely in the street fight.
Disu maintained that the RRS personnel will continue to ensure public peace through continuous motorised patrols, especially hotspots notorious for cultist activities to forestall future violence not only in the area but across the State.
Meanwhile, the Commandant has cautioned members of the public against making false distress calls, saying that the time and resources spent by the security team in responding to fake alarm could be better utilised in areas where the services of the RRS are urgently needed.
While assuring all residents in the State of the total commitment of his team to respond promptly to all emergency situations, Disu solicited for the support and cooperation of members of the public to enhance the performance of security operatives within the State.
