Sanwo-Olu Approves Salary Increase For Lagos Civil Servants

The Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday said he has given approval for the commencement of the process to increase salaries of workers in the state’s civil service.

Sanwo-Olu made this known while addressing the workers at the state secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.

The governor said he understands that the high inflation in the country may have affected the purchasing power of workers.

He said Lagos state will not wait for the federal government before it improves the well-being of workers.

The governor said his administration is proactive to the aspirations of civil servants.

“I have looked around and I know that as a country, there is pressure,” he said.

“I know that, as a country, there is a high level of inflation.

“At our cabinet meeting, I instructed the head of service office and the ministry of staff, training, and pensions to start work on how we are going to increase the entire salary of our public servants.”

The announcement is coming less than a few months before the 2023 general election.
