Sanwo-Olu Signs N4.4trn Lagos 2026 Budget into Law

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has signed the N4.4 trillion Appropriation Bill into law for the 2026 fiscal year.
The brief signing ceremony was held at the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja, where the governor endorsed the document in the presence of top government officials.
The Lagos State House of Assembly had earlier passed the proposal tagged ‘Budget of Shared Prosperity’ earlier in the month, approving a total expenditure of N4,444,509,776,438 for the new financial year.
In attendance were Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, members of the State Executive Council, the Head of Service, Bode Agoro, and lawmakers from the Assembly, alongside other critical stakeholders in the state’s governance structure.
Sanwo-Olu had presented the fiscal proposal to the legislature in November 2025, describing it as an instrument tailored toward inclusive growth and broad-based development.
The governor said the budget will drive Lagos closer to a future where economic opportunities and public welfare are evenly distributed. “Our mission is focused on eliminating poverty and ensuring Lagos works for every resident.
We are committed to a future where shared prosperity is not merely a promise but a tangible reality,” he stated.
Sanwo-Olu noted that the spending plan draws its direction from the T.H.E.M.E.S+ development agenda and is structured around four pillars—human capital investment, modern infrastructure, economic expansion and efficient governance—geared toward strengthening the state’s competitiveness and improving quality of life.
